I stayed at the Radisson Star Plaza, host of the American Culinary Federation's State Convention. From the time I arrived, the entire staff was amazing, especially in the Food and Beverage Department.
Every staff member said, "Good Morning" or "Hello" when walking down the hall. It really made me feel so welcome and comfortable.
A staff member was always available to answer questions or assist in any way they could. I found pretty much everything I needed within the hotel for the weekend, except the Red Leather Couch I managed to purchase. Can't wait to bring it home.
Anyhow, I found a fantastic Irish Pub with entertainment, a Starbucks (for my Cinnamon Dolce Fix), Fitness Center (to work it off), pool, some Smooth R & B from a performance by MAZE, Atrium area with numerous sitting areas, a Business Center, City Cafe, and WiseCrackers Comedy Club. Love Comedy Clubs, but I just couldn't fit it into the weekend. I will have to check that out.
Whether you are looking for a quiet area to relax, need a laugh at a comedy club, or would like some delicious food, the Radisson Star Plaza has what you need.
The conference was wonderful, thanks to Cheryl Molenda and her hard work. The food was delicious and it was so nice to chat with fellow members and catch up with others. The presentations were interesting and informative. I especially enjoyed the "Taste of Physiology" presentation by George Sideras of Nestle. I had the opportunity to meet him and his lovely wife over dinner the night before. I found it interesting that the average adult has 7000-8000 taste buds, unless you have super taste buds, an extraordinary amount of buds. I couldn't believe 80% of flavor occurs in the Aromatics versus Aroma. There is a direct connection between memory and taste. You remember what it tasted like before and this causes more anticipation and the taste buds to wake up, salivating as a result. I enjoyed the interactive tasting experiences and the Vanilla Wheel. A very interesting look at taste! So many more great presenters, I look forward to next years event.
